Susan L. Hesser December 12, 1918 to October 13, 2011 Susan Hesser joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday evening, Oct. 13, 2011. In 2008 she moved from Torrance, California where she lived most of her life, to Mt. Miguel Covenant Village in Spring Valley, CA. She was born December 12, 1918 in Dawson, New Mexico a mining town that no longer exists. She often referred to herself as a “coal miner’s daughter”. Susan was the second child of 7 children born to Joseph and Martha Bell. Susan retired from the Torrance Police Dept., where she worked as a secretary to the traffic officers. The joy of her life was her family. Her passion was missions and she enjoyed giving, writing and encouraging missionaries. Susan is survived by her 3 daughters, Judith Lopez (Joe), Jo Anne Pivovaroff, and Janice Bennett, 7 grandchildren: Jamie Gilson (Marcus), Shawn Lopez (Julie), Michael Pivovaroff (Sarah), Suzanne Miller (Joey), Renee Williams, James Bennett and Holly Pivovaroff. 10 great-grandchildren: Anthony & John Marcopoulos, Aleyna, Andreas, & Sophia Gilson, Zachary, Nathan & William Miller, Caleb Lopez, and Davianna Young, Brother: Joe Bell (Anita). Preceded in death, by her husband of 60 years, James Hesser; her sisters, Martha Beer & Janet Byers and brothers, John, Archie, and Robert Bell. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Rolling Hills Covenant Church, College Avenue Baptist Church in San Diego, or the ministry of your choice, in her name. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. followed by Memorial Service on Friday, October 28, 2011 11:00 a.m. both at A. M. Gamby Funeral Home, in Lomita, CA. A. M. Gamby Funeral Home directing.
