Bob passed away peacefully on April 9, 2010 surrounded by family members. He was born on April 16,1929 in Harbor City, CA. A long time resident of Lomita, he graduated from Narbonne High School in 1947, went to work for his parents Manual and Vicenta Cano at their store, and eventually, owned and operated the “Union 76” service station on 25th and Western in San Pedro. In 1965 Bob went to work on the waterfront as a Marine Clerk where he spent 30 years. His passion has always been motorsports which included boat and auto racing, and building hot rods. Bob is survived by his children Doreen Steinbach (Bob), Daniel Cano (Cindi), Debbie Ruesch (Bob) and Joseph Cano (Colleen), his sister, Irene Cobo, and grandchildren; Laura, Bobby, Rick, Mark, Kate, Andrew and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his wife Roma. A viewing will be held Thursday April 15, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gamby Morturary in Lomita. Services will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Friday April16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
