The family lived in the San Jacinto Valley until 1944. Ralph was 16 years old when the family moved to Rogue River, Oregon. He graduated from High School there on May 29, 1946. He then moved back to California in time to receive his induction notice. When inducted he chose to enlist in the Army Reserves for eight years with 2 years of active duty, immediately. After completing basic training he was assigned to the Signal Corp with a classification in 1945. He eventually ended up in Germany and Austria and finished out his 2 years there. In 1955 he graduated from “Reno’s University of Beauty” receiving his diploma in the prescribed course of Art and Science of Beauty Culture, “Hairdresser and Cosmetician.” For the next 50 years he worked as a Beautician in his own Salon and other Salons in the South Bay area. In 1989 he met Wilma Boudreau and became very interested in her, developing a very close relationship.
