Neil Wesley Short, 96, went home to be with the Lord and his wife. Roma, Monday, February 8, 2016. He had spent a day with family and loved ones, and then peacefully said his goodbye.
He leaves his son, Bruce (Jerrie); two daughters, Ruth and Debi (Rob); six grandchildren; Heather, Roby (Thalia), Caleb, Cali Brown (Blake), Jamin and Kelsey; one great granddaughter, Addilyn Dae Brown; and extended family and friends.
He was born in Wray, Colorado to William and Loda Short on October 21, 1919. He had been a resident of Torrance for the last 61 years.
He taught music/band for Torrance Unified for 35 years. Alongside that, you could always find him directing a choir or leading church music. He was a tireless worker and had an endless supply of support and encouragement with anyone with which he had contact.
He will be greatly missed, but all who had the privilege of knowing him will carry on his legacy.
A viewing will be held Thursday, February 11, from 4-8 pm at AM Gamby’s Mortuary in Lomita. Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am at Gardena Valley Assembly. Following will be the graveside at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
