Mary Cook Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and treasured friend of many, Mary Louise Cook, 77, a retired telephone company manager, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully at her family hone, December 27, 2011. She was born April 3, 1934, in Torrance, California, grew up in Lomita, where she graduated from Narbonne High School. Mary was a proud long-time resident of Torrance, and was a seven-year resident of Nevada. Mary enjoyed a long and extremely successful career with the Pacific Bell Telephone Company, where she retired after over 50 years of dedicated service. Mary was a lifetime member of the Job’s Daughters, where she served as an Honored Queen. Mary was also a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. Her passions included painting, sewing, knitting and nurturing her beloved desert tortoises, “Skoots” and “Itty”. Mary always stated that her true joy was in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. They were her greatest joy in life and she cherished every minute spent with them. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Edythe Pedersen; and her sister, Joan Meagher. Mary is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Michael Gullatta; and sister, Karen Irvin; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her family was her world. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, with services following, both at A.M. Gamby Funeral Home, 25001 Narbonne Avenue, Lomita, California 90717. Graveside services will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
