MARIA GRISELDA ìNENEî VILLASIS PASCUAL, age 66, passed away last Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 10:20am in Harbor UCLA hospital in Los Angeles, California. She was suffering from cancer. Maria was born to Pablo and Estrella Pascual on April 18, 1947 in Manila, Philippines. She grew up in Santa Cruz, Manila and graduated from the University of Santo Tomas where she earned her Bachelorís degree in Literature and Journalism. ìNeneî as she was fondly called by friends and relatives immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s where she worked as a receptionist at Unity Hospital in Brooklyn. Later, she landed a job in an advertising agency, BBD and O, where she was executive secretary to the president. But her love for Mama Mary and her faith in Jesus took her to a different path. She later devoted her time in spreading the truth of God Ö teaching catechism, being a Eucharist Minister, in writing articles of faith and actually working for the diocese. Although she never married, Maria was blessed with so many friends. She spent most of her life caring and taking care of the people closest to her heart. When she moved to L.A., she spent her time taking care of her sick father and mother. She had sacrificed her own happiness so she could provide her parents with the proper care they needed. Maria was a lady of great faith, integrity and love. She will be remembered for her great sense and humor, her artistry, her skill in writing and her willingness to help those in need. She was one of the most talented and creative writers of The Filipino Catholic, a publication which she helped publish in New York.
Maria is survived by her brother Emmanuel and his wife Norma; sister Doris and husband Fausto Pazmino; Cousins: Jenny, Dennis, Patty, Willie Paterson and Belinda Reyes; Nephews Mark, Paul, Michael, David, Ryan, Kevin; Nieces Veronica and Anjelica; Grand nephews and grand nieces: Scarlett, Allison, Ethan, Caleb and Quinn; True and loyal friends: Becky, Rufina,Cindy and Hedy.
Funeral visitation will be from 4pm to 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at A.M.Gamby Funeral Home 25001 Narbonne Avenue.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday May 2, 2013 at the Holy Redeemer Chapel of Holy Cross Cemetery. Interment will follow.hide
