MARGARET ANN BALD Born February 19, 1937, Died September 27,2012 Margaret Bald passed away peacefully on September 27 at Torrance Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor one month prior to her death. She is survived by her past husband Robert Bald, her children, James Bald (Marie Bald), John Bald (Colleen Dobson), Scott Bald (Laurie VanZandt), and Cathy Bald (Spike Kelly), her 11 grandchildren, Lauren, Dani, (Justin Bruni), Christopher, Jennifer (Casey Stone), Nicky, Katie, Kevin, Johnathan, Jordan, Billy, and Kira and her great granddaughter Dylan. Margaret Minich was born in Los Angeles and resided in the South Bay her entire life where she married Robert James Bald. She raised her four children, Jimmy, John, Scott, and Cathy in Torrance and Palos Verdes. She enjoyed many years of family camping trips to the Salton Sea, Schaefer Lake, and Mammoth Mountain. They were a family of water skiers and snow skiers always challenging each other to be better. Margaret was always involved in the family business, Los Angeles Drywall, where she was the bookkeeper and “Mom” to all of the employees. After Margaret retired she pursued her love of teaching kids and would assist teachers in the San Pedro school district and read to children with special needs. At this time, she also continued to take classes at various community colleges to enrich her life. Her proudest moments have been the births of her 11 grandchildren. She was known as the “Huggle Buggle” grandma and they all called her Nana. She spent many weekends with the grand kids letting them do anything their parents wouldn’t let them do. The room with the toys, and books, and dress up clothes, was named the teddy bear room and until this day the grand kids knew that was their room. She followed their dreams and lives with vigor, always patiently listening to whatever they would share and never suggesting they be or do anything else. Margaret and the kids would always say their nighttime prayers together and her favorite sandwich for the kids was an Amen sandwich. Margaret had many friends to share good times with, Ardley, Pat, Wendy, Betsy, Clark, and Bob, to name a few. They traveled together, dined together, enjoyed movies together and kept up with each others families. In the fall if it was a Monday night or a weekend day she would be watching football games. Always cheering for the team of the jersey she was wearing. We will truly miss you Mom, Nana, and Margaret!! You have taught us all so much and enlightened our lives with such kindness, silliness, and laughter. You will be the eternal Matriarch of our family. She would want us all to be happy, so we’ll be happy and celebrate her life for all that it was! LOVE FOREVER The Balds and The Cousins
