In loving memory of June Faith Howlett

June, wife of the late Ernie Howlett, passed away peacefully on September 11th, at the age of 90 in Torrance, California with her daughter by her side. June is survived by her daughter, April, son-in-law, Warren and her two wonderful grandchildren, Christina and Matthew.

She was born in New York on September 17, 1923, and became a child star of the theatre. Her talent on stage was unrivaled by her beauty as a print model, where her picture appeared on the cover of ìCradle in Fearî published in 1942. She continued with her love of the stage by participating in the P.V. players.

Her golden locks and good looks caught the attention of Second Lieutenant Ernie Howlett. They were married on September 26, 1945 and became residents in the Dapplegray Lanes area of Rolling Hills Estates. T they raised their daughter, April. Juneís joy was supporting her husband, Ernie, as a council member and mayor for the city of Rolling Hills Estates. With Ernieís untimely death in 1972 from Leukemia, she remained a beacon of the community and a devoted parent.

Juneís selfless dedication to helping others was apparent early on as a member of Mary and Joseph League and Guild member at St. John and continued in her later years with her 20 years of service assisting the elderly at Little Sisters of the Poor in San Pedro.

Her greatest joy was becoming grandma to Christina and Matthew. Juneís love, guidance, and wisdom have inspired them through adulthood.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 10:00 am at Saint Margaret Mary Church in Lomita. June will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made on Juneís behalf to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Stellaís Hope, the A.S.P.C.A., Actor’s and others for animals, or any local animal shelter in your community.
