John L. Flynn was a loving husband, supportive father, proud grandparent and faithful friend. He was born in Portland, Oregon on July 12, 1932. He was the oldest of 12 children to the late John and Mildred Flynn.

John married Norah in 1965 in Vietnam. They recently renewed their wedding vows on May 5 just 1 month short of their 50th wedding anniversary. John had four children: Patrick, Noreen, Terence and Kevin. As well as four grandchildren: Bryn, Connor, Madeleine, and Stephen.

John was an accomplished and respected journalist. He opened the first Associated Press office in Las Vegas before going to Vietnam. There he reported on the war for both Life Magazine then for CBS Nightly News. After coming back to the United States with his new family, he settled in Burbank and worked at NBC news and later at KNBC local news. There he was instrumental in getting Los Angeles’ first early morning local newscast off the ground.

John was known for his dry sense of humor, love of faith and family, devotion, and strength of character.

He will be greatly missed and always loved and remembered.
