Gordon Jesse Phillips was born December 1, 1928 in Caldwell, Idaho to Henry W. and Josephine Phillips. He was born with club feet and walked on his knees until he was 5 years old. IT was then that his parents took him too the Shriner’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was there off and on until he was 13. He had nine surgeries on his feet. Because of what the Shriners did for him and his little sister Shirley, he spent his life giving back to the Shriners. Gordon left Idaho in the early fifties to California, were the winters were warmer. He met his wife Laura there and they married in 1954. Laura had a 4 year old son Lynn and later Rodney joined their family. Gordon worked as a plumber for TRW in Redondo Beach. Gordon was a very happy person and loved to be around people. Gordon was one of 14 children. He was the camera man at all the family reunions. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sons, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, 4 sister-in-laws and 2 brother-in-laws. He is survived by2 sisters, Verna Krenz of Washington and Rosemary Terry of Idaho and 3 brothers, Don of Alaska; Jack of Washington and Jerry of Washington; and many nieces and nephews, who loved him much. A special special niece Shannah Beltran and her family who took such care of Gordon. A visitation will be held at A.M. Gamby Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 am with a chapel service at noon. Burial to follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
