Francisco (Frank) Garcia Soler, age 85 passed away at his residence at Del Amo Gardens Care Center on Wednesday February 15, 2012. He resided in Torrance California but was South Bay resident for 32 years. Frank was born November 30, 1926 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Enery Garcia and Francisco Soler. As a young boy Frank loved to play at the beach in Puerto Rico with his brothers. As a young man he really loved to go dancing. He loved to watch sports mostly Baseball, read the newspaper and talk politics to whoever would listen. Frank loved old Western movies; his favorite shows were Bonanza and Gun smoke. Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Camp Carson, Colorado. He attained the rank of SGT(T). On December 29, 1951 Frank received the Occupation Medal (Japan) Purple Heart, and the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars. He was a Maintenance Repairman/Machinist and Retired from Aerospace Rivet in 1997 at the age of 70. He is preceded in death by his parents Enery Garcia and Francisco Soler, his wife Felipa Soler, and his son William Soler. He is survived by his Children Frank Soler Jr., Nilsa Soler, Maria Soler, Carmen (John) Snyder of Streamwood, Ill., Delia Striano of Chicago Ill., Michael (Sylvia) Soler of Harwood Heights Ill., Maria Smith of Fond du loc WI, Kathy (Brian) Giba of Lancaster CA., Vallarie Soler of Janesville WI, Bryan (Carrie) Soler or Quartz Hill, CA. and Adreanna (Eric) Evans of San Pedro, CA. Twenty grandchildren: Edson Castillo, Samantha (Brian) Glon, Joseph Perry, Diana Soler, Jessica Soler, William Soler Jr., Mark Davidson, Krystal (Shawn) Manning, Mathew Smith, Rebecca Giba, Nicholas Giba, Kenneth Pitts Jr., Shani Soler-Pitts, Quennel Jackson, Daniel Simmons, Kai Soler-King, Khaliyah Soler-Smith, Austin Soler, Dayton Soler and Frank Evans. Nine great-grandchildren: Nina Roder, Nathaniel Roder, Natalie Glon, Nathan Manning, John Gordon III, Myla Pitts, Quennel Gordon, MaKya King and Olivia Soler. On Friday February 24, 2012 Funeral services for Francisco Garcia Soler will be held at A.M. Gamby Funeral Home located at 25001 Narbonne Ave. Lomita CA. 90717 @ 2:00 p.m. Relatives & friends are welcome to join us at Sizzler Restaurant located at 2880 Sepulveda for dinner following the services.
