ìRedî passed from this earth on Monday, July 1, 2013 with family at his side. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He was born to William and Erma Redderson in Los Angeles, California and raised in San Francisco. A career military veteran, Red served as a bomber and fighter pilot for the Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he immediately re-enlisted with the Army Air Corp and spent two tours during the Vietnam Conflict as a helicopter pilot and earned an Air Medal and Bronze Star. Retiring again, he re-located in Redondo Beach and then finally in Torrance, California. Following his military service, Red operated a flight school out of the Santa Monica airport and contributed to the documentation of and flying fraternity operating in the Los Angeles airspace.

He was featured in the magazine Plane & Pilot several times and was considered an expert in the field of small aircraft. Following the flight groundings on 9-11-2001, he retired from flying at the age of 77. Red married June M. Owens and raised a family of three children initially. Following his time in WWII and Korea, they divorced and he later re-married Teruyo Tsuji in 1989 and was a loving stepfather to her children and helped raise her youngest daughter. Teruyo lovingly cared for Red during these last several years of his illnesses, and has steadfastly remained by his side. Red is survived by his wife, children and many grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Torrance Memorial Hospice nursing staff that provided care for him during his final days. A memorial service is planned at the Rissho Kosei-Kai Buddhist Church of Los Angeles, 2707 East 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033, on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
