Elsie Elizabeth Alexander was born in Washington County, Indiana on November 16, 1922, and passed away at the Bay Crest Care Center in Torrance, California on November 7, 2014 — just nine days before her 92nd birthday.

Elsie grew up in the rural area of Indiana near the heartland of America; and all her friends and family can enter into just how much Elsie truly love her American heritage. She was not opposed to wearing the red, white and blue as part of her dress. For many years while she was yet able, she loved to plan and host picnics in the park on American holidays so that her many friends could enjoy special times together. But more than her love for this country, Elsie manifested a love for her eternal country and home when she made her choice to follow Jesus — a vow she kept ’til the end of life.

For many years, Elsie’s occupation was electronic assembly before her retirement. She had a home in Lawndale, California where she resided until it became necessary for her to enter Bay Crest Care Center.

Elsie was preceded in death by her father, Clark Callaway, and her mother Lillie Cole Callaway; three brothers and one sister.

Among those who mourn her passing are her son, Sam Napier Jr. of Lawndale, California, her sister Mary Gabbard of Pennville, Indiana, one granddaughter, April, and two great grandchildren. Also, sharing her life are several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at A.M. Gamby Funeral Home Chapel in Lomita.
