Elizabeth Carter was born September 22, 1936 Bronx, New York to Albert Mango and Marie Giordano. She passed away Wednesday, December, 1, 2010 at Torrance Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 19 years, George Carter. She is survived by her son Al Davino (Kim), daughter Lorraine Shea (John), Step-daughters Shron Cater, Virginia Dietz (Vernon). Step-son Jason Carter (Dawn) granddaughters Rylee and Sunnie Davino, Hannah Carter and Valerie Dietz, and one grandson Jake Carter. Sister Rose Fortino (Fuzzy) Brothers Ralph and Albert Mango, Numerous nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was the youngest of twelve children and grew up in the Bronx. She attended Public School 48 in the Bronx and graduated from Hunters High School in 1954. She began her career as a typist then found her calling as a bank teller. After moving to Southern California, she resumed her career in banking with City National Bank then went on to a 22 year career with Bank of America. After her retirement in 1993, Elizabeth became a volunteer for over 16 years at Torrance Memorial Hospital. She donnated over 2500 hours of her time helping others. Her hobbies included Bowling with the VIP league at the Gable House. Traveling with her family and friends via bus or plane to Las Vegas or Laughlin where she would challenge her favorite slot machine “Blazing 7s” and win. Las Vegas and the Gable House will never be the same. She especially enjoyed beating anyone who would challenge her to a game of scrabble. Gifted with the ability to remember details about people’s lives, she had a genuine intrest in those she had come to know. The Family wishes to acknowledge the support and friendship of Roseann Imbro, Lois Globnick, Cleo Wayman, Elnora & Jim Phillips, Elena Bruns, Leona Carrington, Jim Olinger, Shirley Amberg, Bobby Callan, Shirley Lambert, Mary Matson, Ruthie Velasco, Mary Beth Ross, the Lortz family, The Carter family, oncologist Dr. Jenny Ru, with whom she had a special connection. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held December 9, 2010 at 12:30 pm at Kings Harbor Church 23915 Garnier Street Torrance California. Interment services to be held at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, her family wishes that donations be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Donor Services. P.O.
