Doreen B. “Mickey” Kelbaugh, 88, died peacefully in her sleep in Harbor City on August 30, 2017. The memorial service will be held on September 6 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, El Segundo at 4:00PM. Rev. Dina Ferguson will be officiating. A private burial will held at Green Hills Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by A. M. Gamby Mortuary.
Mickey was born in Renton, Washington on February 9, 1929. She graduated from Freemont High School. In Los Angeles. As a lifelong learner she continued to take classes in many different subjects.
Mickey was married to Claire B. “Tay” Kelbaugh in 1994. They were married for eighteen years before his death in 2012.
Mickey worked for many years as a waitress/manager at Norms Restaurants. Later she became a decorative painter, studying under Jo Sonya Jansen. Mickey taught classes and received her certificate for Decorative Painters in 1980. She loved all kinds of arts and crafts and could do them all with ease. Many family members cherish pieces she painted or sewed for them. Mickey loved the holidays and would decorate her home and outfits to match. She hosted yearly Easter egg dyeing, pumpkin carving, cookie bakes, and Christmas sing-a-longs with her family (in-laws and out-laws alike).
Mickey was also a Past Matron Order of the Eastern Star, Torrance Chapter. She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and several genealogical organizations.
Mickey is survived by her two sons and their wives, Steven and Frannie Albers, Sedalia, MO; Randall and Melissa Albers, Hawthorne, CA; grandchildren Joshua Albers and Nicole Albers and three great grandchildren.
She was proceeded by death by her parents, Gertrude Flower and Clarence Shepherd; sisters, Shirley Shepherd and Crystal Martin and husband Claire Kelbaugh.
