Donald Norton Walker died peacefully on February 24, 2009 in Torrance, California.  Don was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 18, 1922.  The family moved almost immediatley to the Los Angeles basin where Don lived the rest of his life.  He attened Redlands College and then UCLA.  Don became a high school teacher and then a counselor at San Pedro High School.  He taught there for 34 years.  After his retirement in 1984, Don volunteered at Griffith Adult School with the ESL program.  Don sang in a community choir for many years.  He also enjoyed photography, birding and traveling.  His greatest love, however, was for his family.  He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary; his children: Marilyn Reppert and husband Mark, Don, Anne, Steve and wife Sonia, Alan, Norman and partner Edwin; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother Tom; and several nieces. His life will be celebrated at an open house on Sunday, March 22 from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. at the rec room at 3210 Merrill Drive in Torrance.  Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obit.
