Clark Golden Adams, Jr., age 61, passed away quickly and unexpectedly on July 26, 2014 due to a brain aneurysm while on a family vacation in Snowbird, Utah. He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, friend, father-in-law, cousin, uncle, boss and soon-to-be grandfather. Clark was born in Santa Monica, California to Clark G. Adams and Barbara Jean (B.J.) Newcomb Adams on May 11, 1953. His sister Vicky joined the family two years later. The family started out in Hawthorne and then moved several years later to Palos Verdes. Clark enjoyed academics and played football at Rolling Hills High (Class of 1971). In high school his family hosted a German exchange student, Florian Behrendt, who has remained close to Clark and his family. He followed in his parentsí footsteps and attended the University of Utah for two years before transferring to Georgetown University to earn a degree in business/finance. Southern California called and Clark returned to start a small construction business in the South Bay. He soon noticed no one was specializing in window and door replacement so he opened Clark Adams Co. Windows and Doors where he was President and General Manager for 34 years. Clark enjoyed his job and meeting new customers, and he tried his best to be a mentor to his employees. Clark met his sweetheart Jill and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married her in the Los Angeles Mormon Temple in 1980. The highlights of their lives are their three daughters Ashley, Lindsey and Hayley. Clark felt blessed to add two wonderful sons-in-law to the family. He enjoyed living in Torrance and believed in contributing to his community. Clark served on the Community Services Commission, Work Force Investment Network (WIN) committee, South Bay Economic Development partnership and was a commissioner on the Torrance Airport Commission. He has served as the President of the North Redondo Beach Business Association for the past eight years. Clark was a natural teacher and shared his knowledge with everyone whether it be teaching someone to drive a stick shift, grow and dry your own peppers, smoke a delicious brisket or read a map. Clark had fun discovering new restaurants, growing cactus and vacationing in Palm Springs. He enjoyed entertaining in all its forms ñ such as starting a company meeting with a joke, being in a church roadshow or frequently using witticisms such as ìIím busier than a syrup jug at a waffle shop!î Clark enjoyed all his positions in church especially working with the Young Adults. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his family and church, the trait of industriousness he learned from his parents, service to the community and a love of gaining knowledge and sharing it. Clark is survived by his wife Jill Hammond Adams, his parents Clark and B.J. Adams of Washington, D.C., his daughters Ashley Adams of Torrance, Lindsey (Brandon) Fieldsted of Lomita, Hayley (Brant) Choate of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and his sister Vicky (Alan) Fogg and family of Fairfax Station, Virginia. Services for Clark will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 22605 Kent Ave. Torrance, 90505. Viewing is at 10:00 and funeral at 11:00 followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers you may consider donating to the Los Angeles Times Family Fund at latimes.com/family fund.
