Carol S. (Ferges) Painter June 27, 1943 – August 21, 2012 Carol was born in Los Angeles California to George E. and Janet R. Ferges. Carol had a happy childhood with a large extended family and lived in the South Bay area her whole life. She graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1961. Carol worked 20 years for the Department of LA County Engineers, 1961- 1981, where she met her husband to be. Joseph Q. Painter and Carol Ferges were married in the Hawthorne United Methodist Church, October 1972. She worked part time at the May Company and volunteered at Continental Airlines. In retirement she and Joe traveled extensively all over the United States and the world. Carol became a genealogist and researched her family history. She was a Genealogy Librarian for 25 years at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Rancho Palos Verdes California. Upon Joe’s death, Carol attended upholstery classes at LAUSD Regional Occupational Center in San Pedro for these past 15 years and enjoyed doing all different kinds of furniture upholstery for friends and family. Carol also enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining, gardening. She loved doing Swedish embroidered blankets for wedding presents, crocheting, sewing, needle work of all kinds; her hands were never quiet or empty. Recently she knitted scarves for the military and made cloth dolls for hospitalized children. Where ever Carol saw a need, she volunteered to help in any way possible. She was a friend to all. Carol is survived by her sisters Catherine Ferges, Barbara Ferges and brother Ralph Ferges (Pamela), nieces and nephew; Diana Giles, Glen Giles (Chanda) and Teresa Thomas (James), great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Her services will be held, Tuesday August 28th, 2012; viewing at 10:30 Am., service at 11 Am. At the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS 5845 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. (310) 541-0601 Carol will be laid to rest next to her love Joseph Painter in Logan Utah, August 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you please make a donation to a Cancer Society of your choice.
