Carl N. Ridenour, 89, A long time resident of Lomita passed away Thursday April 2, 2009 in Torrance California. He built and owned Carl’s Brake and Tire Shop on the property at Eshelman and Lomita Blvd. where he was born and spent his childhood. He worked there until he retired in 1978. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. When the war was over he came home to his beloved Lomita. He enjoyed reminiscing about growing up in his hometown. Though he lived in various cities nearby as he raised his family, and relocated to Hemet for a time before moving back to the area in 2002, he always held Lomita as his home. He enjoyed attending the Lomita Historical meetings, until his health no longer allowed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Imogene, or Jean as she was known to family and friends. He leaves two daughters, Carla and Robin, a step-son Barry Cox of Idaho, grandsons Mathew and David, and granddaughter Jennifer, two sisters Mary and Jean and many nieces and nephews, extended family, caregivers and dear friends. Services will be held at A.M. Gamby Chapel on Wednesday April 8, at 11am. In leu of flowers please send donations to the Parkinson’s Society.
